You missed the most obvious and most important option: it's because the "president" of the Islamic Republic is a totally powerless and symbolic post.  He has no real power when it comes to anything remotely important and of consequence.  Remember, the Soviet Union also ahd an "elected president."  Do you , or everyone else for that matter, even know their names?!!

واقعا متاسفم برای ساده لوحانی که بعد از ۳۴ سال جنایت، دزدی و خیانت این نظام، هنوز فکر میکنند که یک شخص که از قلب این نظام ، به دستور شخص خامنه‌ای به "ریاست جمهوری" رسیده، قادر یا مایل به ذره‌ای اصلاحات به نفع ملت هست.
